In a recent research as published in a science journal the total amount of data to be stored by the world in 2007 counted about the 295 exabytes. This amount of data equates about to the average hard drives into the numbers as accounted to the 1.2 billion. “If we were to take all that information and store it in books, we could cover the entire area of the US or China in 3 layers of books,” as told by Dr Martin Hilbert of the University of Southern California. One exabyte stand about the a billion gigabytes. Amazingly, if this information is stored on the CDs then that pile of discs would reach beyond the moon as revealed by the researchers.
Scientists estimated this figure by accounting the amount of data kept on analogue and digital technologies in between the period from 1986 to 2007. They included everything from the computer hard drives to obsolete floppy discs, and x-ray films to microchips on credit cards. Sounding to be the massive however this data is nothing before the storage capacity of the nature, “The Human DNA in one single body can store around 300 times more information than we store in all our technological devices” further informed the Dr Hilbert to a reputed media group during an interview.
