Content strategy has expanded as a regular practice in online fraternity of web development since the late 1990s. It is as field known as a user experience design but also developed interests in closing communities like the content management, business analysis and technical communication.
It further can be described as the practice of planning for content creation, delivery, and governance and a repeatable system that defines the entire editorial content development process for a website development project.  Other objective of content strategy is to ensure the maximizing the business goals for the organization. A person who practice content strategy as a matter of fact as known to be as a content strategist.
The dimensions which a content strategist provides to a website largely depend upon their professional training and education. A person into content strategy largely works with  metadata, taxonomy, search engine optimization, and the ways in which the sound application of these concepts still provide supports to content. It can be further expanded to the web editorial strategies including guidelines and tool and developing a new forms and types of content like multimedia, presence management and microblogging.
There is yet another stream of content strategy advancing information architecture goals. In this case, content strategy may only involve writing site copy for new website pages and adapting the content on existing ones. All content strategists are familiar with a wide range of applications and tools, and frequently are responsible for implementing and training individuals to best use them.
